Apparently Mikey is not ready to go back to school tomorrow... This afternoon he went upstairs, got a suitcase from my room and then brought it to me. When I told him we weren't going to be using the suitcase, he proceeded to start to pull the chords apart on his Wii and start packing the Wii and his games in to the suitcase as we can't possibly go anywhere without the Wii. I asked him what he was doing and he went to his talker and said "want" and then went in to the "Places" folder and looked around... it was pretty clear he wasn't seeing what he wanted... he said "home" and then cleared it... then he said "window" and cleared it... then he looked a bit closer and said "pool". I told him he didn't need the Wii or his suitcase to go to the pool (but at this point I'm starting to get what he is talking about). He then went and added "go", "car" and "sleep" to what he was saying. I asked him if he was looking for the word "hotel" and he said yes. We haven't used the word hotel before with this system so I went looking for it but couldn't find it so figured it was a great time to show him the "help me add a word" button. Showed it to him and he grabbed his talker back and went back to it and used it and then, once again said "go", "car", "pool", "sleep". I asked if he wanted me to add the word "hotel" to his talker and he said yes so I added it. Then he giggled, cleared the screen and said "want" "go" "hotel". At this point I reminded him that he is going back to school tomorrow. He probably actually knows this and that is probably why he is thinking it is a good idea to get out of town and go to a hotel where he can swim in the pool and play his packed up Wii all day long. Because I'm so excited that he is really starting to make this talker into his own voice, we did decide to go to a hotel this coming up weekend so we put it on the calendar and started a 5 sleep countdown.
