Rhonda informed me that it was high time to update my blog... so this will be a quick update and hopefully I will get to a couple of other important posts that I would like to make this week as well.
It is, once again, a crazy time of the year at work. I'm currently just finishing updating my student's IPPs and then this week will meet with the parents for parent-teacher interviews. This will be the last meeting for some of the parents for the year - while others we may need to meet one more time. It is all dependent on need next time around. I can't believe the year is passing this quickly. I love the students and th staff but also find myself feeling like its going to fast to get everything done that I want to get done. I'm looking forward to having this summer to really plan out next year and have a lot of things in place before it all starts as it is a major day-to-day whirlwind. The job is also more physical exhausting so I find it harder to do things in the evening at times. That sounds like I don't like it - I really do - what I don't like is the feeling like a new teacher again and I'm looking forward to the time when I don't ;).
Mikey is doing wonderfully. This school placement is perfect for him and he is thriving. His report card showed major improvement in all areas. Most imporatantly, for me, the behaviours that were thought to be the end of the world last year just seem to non-existant this year. This move has been exactly what he needs and I'm excited that he will be at this school for the next 4 years. Just this past week, he got to go up to the front three times during the whole school assembly - once because he was "student of the week", once because he was one of the top fundraisers for the skate-a-thon that they had and then a third time he got to go up and recieve the "golden broom" because his class had kept their room the cleanest for the past month. At home, he just his content little self and I am seeing no signs of stress. Life is good.
I'm planning to post pictures this week as well as put together a post about our school plans for next year :). I will be meeting with the school to finalize them in the next couple of weeks.
